Biography
Carter Massingill is a versatile litigator with a broad practice. He has secured millions of dollars in judgments and settlements for plaintiffs and successfully defended clients threatened with catastrophic financial loss.
Carter represents clients in complex disputes involving real estate development, zoning and land use issues, construction matters, corporate governance and shareholder disputes, and trust and estate litigation. His practice spans a wide range of commercial matters in state and federal courts, as well as arbitration forums.
His experience includes:
- Trials and arbitrations involving commercial disputes, fraud, breach of contract, fiduciary claims, unfair trade practices, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, and violent crimes;
- Resolving shareholder oppression cases, corporate breakups, buyout disputes, multi-million-dollar construction defect class actions, contentious non-compete and non-solicitation matters, and enforcement and collection actions.
Carter also acts as outside and local counsel for out-of-state companies and law firms, handling cases statewide through the firm’s offices in Greenville, Columbia, and Charleston.
