Biography

Jennifer E. Johnsen is a partner in the firm’s Greenville, South Carolina, office. She is not only a leader at Gallivan White Boyd but also a leader in the legal profession and community at large. She  serves as the practice group leader of the firm’s Insurance Group and holds numerous leadership positions in the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel (FDCC). She currently serves as a senior director for the  FDCC board of directors, is a member of the executive committee, chairs the projects and objectives committee and is a vice chair on numerous other committees. In 2014, Jennifer was the recipient of the FDCC John Alan Appleman Award which recognizes the section chair who has made the most outstanding contribution to the advancement of the FDCC’s educational goals while serving as chair. She is a past-president of the Greenville County Bar Association. Jennifer also served on the board of trustees for the United Way of Greenville County and chaired the United Way of Greenville County’s 2016 Campaign which raised more than $16.5 million dollars for the community.

With more than 30 years of trial and litigation experience representing insurers in insurance coverage litigation, including extra-contractual and bad faith claims, Jennifer was named a Fellow of the American College of Coverage Counsel in 2019.  Throughout her career she has handled coverage matters involving claims under a variety of policies including:

  • Commercial Property

In addition, Jennifer practices in the area of ERISA/non-ERISA benefits. She handles claims for benefits involving short-term and long-term disability, health care, life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment. Jennifer is also an accomplished business and commercial litigation attorney, representing businesses and corporations in a variety of business disputes and litigation.

Jennifer recognizes the value and importance of client service. She is responsive to inquiries and strives to exceed her clients’ expectations.
