H. Mills Gallivan Honored as “Icon” by South Carolina Lawyers Weekly, 2025 Excellence in Law Awards
[Greenville, S.C. – September, 2025] – Gallivan, White & Boyd proudly announces that H. Mills Gallivan has been honored as an Icon by South Carolina Lawyers Weekly in its 2025 Excellence in Law awards. The Icon designation recognizes distinguished attorneys with long-standing careers of exceptional leadership, service and impact on the legal profession and community.
With a career spanning nearly five decades, Gallivan has built a reputation as one of South Carolina’s most accomplished attorneys in alternative dispute resolution, workers’ compensation and corporate litigation. He is consistently recognized by Best Lawyers in America and South Carolina Super Lawyers, and he has earned numerous honors, including the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association Robert W. Hemphill Award and the University of South Carolina School of Law Platinum Compleat Lawyer Award.
Gallivan’s leadership extends beyond his practice. He has held top roles in national and state legal organizations, including serving as president of the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel, president of Lawyers for Civil Justice and chairman of the board of the National Foundation for Judicial Excellence. He has also played a pivotal role in the South Carolina Bar’s Dispute Resolution Council and remains active in the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association and the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Educational Association.
In addition to his professional achievements, Gallivan has given generously of his time and leadership to the Greenville community. He has served on the Bon Secours Mercy St. Francis Hospital Board of Trustees, the City of Greenville Planning Commission, the Rotary Club of Greenville and the South Carolina Supreme Court Rules Advisory Committee, among many others.
