Biography
Kelly Barber is an associate in the Columbia office, where she focuses her practice on Insurance matters.
Prior to joining GWB, Kelly served as an assistant solicitor with the Ninth Circuit Solicitor’s Office in Charleston. There she managed and prosecuted a high-volume criminal caseload and regularly appeared in court for hearings, motions, plea negotiations and trials.
Kelly graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Georgia State University. She earned her Juris Doctor from the Charleston School of Law where she competed on both the trial advocacy board and moot court board. During that time, she also began her legal career as a law clerk in the Ninth Circuit Solicitor’s Office, where she supported attorneys in trial preparation, conducted legal research, drafted court filings, and participated in case evaluation and development.
In addition to her public service work, she has served as an adjunct professor at the Charleston School of Law, teaching courses on criminal pleadings and practice.
Outside of the office, Kelly enjoys reading, shopping, visiting museums, traveling and trying different coffees.
