Culbreath is a member of American Board of Trial Advocates, Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, and Lawyers for Civil Justice. Prior to entering private practice, he served as a Captain in the United States Army, Judge Advocate Generals Corps, from 1988 until 1992.

John T. Lay, Jr. focuses his law practice on business litigation, professional malpractice, insurance bad faith and coverage, financial services litigation, product liability, and environmental law. He has over 20 years of experience managing complex high-stakes litigation trying more than 100 cases to verdict. This included matters presented before the United States District Court of South Carolina, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.  Lay has been thoroughly recognized in the legal profession including:
