GALLIVAN WHITE & BOYD LAUNCHES COLUMBIA OFFICE WITH TOP LITIGATORS GREENVILLE, S.C. - June 11, 2011 - Gallivan White & Boyd PA announced today the establishment of a Columbia law office and the addition of a skilled team of litigators. John T. Lay Jr., Johnston Cox, John Hudson and Shelley Montague join GWB as partners in the Columbia office. James Brogdon, Childs Thrasher and Breon Walker will serve as associates. The Columbia office will open Monday, June 13, in the Capitol Center. "Our firm is known for having a deep bench of experienced litigators who can try complex cases," said Mills Gallivan, GWB senior shareholder. "This group is cut from the same cloth. They have tried numerous cases, they are leaders, and that's what we're looking for - leaders." The Columbia office follows the opening of an office in Charlotte earlier this year. Chris Kelly, who heads GWB's e-discovery and trucking litigation teams, is partner-in-charge for Charlotte. "Our goal is to be the best business and complex litigation firm in the Southeast," Gallivan said. "Our recent growth in Charlotte and now Columbia gives us three offices in two states. This takes us another step toward achieving our goal." The Columbia team has 77 years of combined legal experience and is led by Lay. They will continue to serve clients with whom they have established relationships over the years while also assisting current GWB clients and working to grow the firm as a whole. "Our Columbia team is excited about taking our complex litigation practice to a new level," said Lay. "Gallivan White & Boyd is known throughout the legal community for its success in important cases and for its leadership in our profession." Lay is a past president of the S.C. Defense Trial Attorneys' Association, as is Gallivan and another GWB shareholder, David Rheney. The addition of the Columbia office brings the number of lawyers at the firm to 51. ###
