Employment Law

The Employment Law Team provides counseling to management concerning a wide range of employment matters designed to avoid claims of discrimination and sexual harassment and to assure compliance with applicable federal and state laws regulating the employment relationship.

Our Employment Law Team also conducts employment audits and prepares and reviews employee handbooks, personnel policies and covenants not to compete. In addition, the Team handles administrative complaints filed with the EEOC, SCHAC, the Department of Labor and the Employment Security Commission.

The Team's litigation practice includes cases arising under federal laws such as Title VII, the ADEA, the ADA, the FMLA, and the FLSA, as well as cases arising under state law involving issues such as retaliatory discharge, wage payment and whistleblowing. Team Leader Debbie Brown, is a Certified Employment Specialist, and her work in the workplace practices group encompasses both the defense of workers' compensation matters, as well as associated employment matters relating to workers' compensation claims.
