Childs Cantey Thrasher is an experienced litigator in the firm’s Columbia, South Carolina, office.  Her practice focuses on business and commercial disputes, environmental litigation, asbestos and toxic tort defense, construction defect defense, products liability, ADA premises compliance, and professional liability.  Childs has extensive experience litigating matters before state and federal courts and she serves as a Commissioner on the South Carolina Ethics Commission as appointed by Governor Henry McMaster.

Prior to joining GWB, Childs served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of South Carolina where she litigated both civil and criminal matters on behalf of the State including the South Carolina vs. North Carolina Catawba River water suit in the United States Supreme Court.  Childs also has experience litigating environmental issues related to:

  • Pollution
  • Toxic Tort
  • Surface and Ground Water
  • State Permitting
  • Civil and Criminal Enforcement
  • Adjacent Land Owner Disputes
  • Underground Storage Tanks

Childs has experience in defending clients in complex litigation matters including corporate governance disputes and contract disputes. She regularly litigates cases in the construction industry, but also represents clients that design or manufacture products in the following industries:
