Biography

Bill Young is a litigation defense attorney in the firm’s Greenville, South Carolina, office. With over a decade of litigation practice, including defending clients at trial against claims in the tens of millions of dollars, Bill has the experience to address virtually any litigation matter. As part of the Tort and Personal Injury team, Bill represents clients in complex litigation arising out of:

  •  Automobile and commercial vehicle accidents
  • Trucking and transportation
  • Premises liability
  • Industrial accidents
  • Intentional torts
  • Business torts
  • Slander/libel
  • Real estate litigation
  • Medical malpractice/professional negligence

Bill also has significant experience in defending matters in both commercial and residential areas of construction.  He has defended general contractors, tradesmen, developers, and design professionals in claims of alleged construction defects.  Additionally, Bill has litigated claims of various types including:

  •  Wrongful contract termination
  • Defective design and construction of residences
  • Large multifamily building defect class actions
  • Improper grading
  • Water intrusion

Prior to joining Gallivan, White & Boyd, Bill served as general counsel and vice president of legal and regulatory compliance for one of the largest specialty finance companies of its kind. In that role, he guided regulatory and administrative compliance for the company’s operations in over 40 states and confirmed compliance with federal and state regulations and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Bill also practiced law in Beaufort, South Carolina, where he routinely represented a multitude of defendants including governmental entities, contractors, and hospitals.
