Biography

Gray Culbreath is a shareholder in the firm’s Columbia, South Carolina, office. With extensive federal, state, and appellate court trial experience, Gray’s practice centers on complex litigation. He defends clients across a wide range of industries and practice areas including product liability, toxic and mass torts, business and commercial litigation, and class actions.  Additionally, Gray handles appellate cases and testifies as an expert witness in class action and legal malpractice litigation.

Gray is a skilled products liability attorney with over 25 years of experience.  This experience has resulted in him leading the firm’s products liability team and serving as national counsel for a major roofing manufacturer. Gray defends mass tort and catastrophic loss claims related to product defects as well as issues arising from the manufacturing, distribution, design, and sale of products such as:

  • Combustible Products
  • Tobacco
  • Chemicals
  • Industrial Equipment
  • Consumer Products
  • Building Materials and Products

Gray is also experienced in assisting clients with emergency responses to catastrophic incidents. He has overseen all aspects of emergency response and management including accident scenes, post-accident investigations, and resulting litigation. This includes claims related to catastrophic personal injury and property damage.

In addition to his products liability practice, Gray concentrates a large portion of his time on representing businesses and corporations in complex commercial litigation matters. Specifically, he defends his business and commercial clients in disputes, arbitration, and litigation matters concerning:

  • Contracts
  • Insurance
  • Trade Secrets

Prior to entering private practice, Gray served as a Captain in the United States Army, Judge Advocate Generals Corps, from 1988 until 1992.  His service in the military instilled in Gray values he uses in the service of his clients today.  Gray believes acting honorably and with integrity will attain the highest level of client service.
